Narcan saves lives

There have been news stories in the past couple of years about the decline in opioid deaths, but I have not seen any of them crediting Narcan becoming an over-the-counter drug for that decline. If administered when somebody is overdosing it blocks the effect on the nervous system of the opioid and saves lives.

Most of my employees are college students from Florida State University and Florida A&M university. When it became an over-the-counter product, I bought one for each of my students. I told them I didn’t think that they were drug users or would have that problem, but if they had it given where they go to school and where they live, it’s possible somebody would be having a crisis and they would be able to save the life because they have it.

Publix groceries here in Florida carry it over-the-counter and each box only costs $50.

I think everybody in the country should have a box at home and if you can, buy it for younger people who may not have thought about having bought one so they could save somebody else’s life as well.
