Carousels, Merry-Go-Rounds, call them what you will, they are FUN! I have taken my grandkids to the one in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The woman I recently lived with for ten years took me to the one on Martha’s Vineyard Island, and it had the Brass Rings!! Her name was Martha also. Her Dad had grown up there. We took her parents’ ashes to be buried surreptitiously by us there! Don’t bother to turn us in. It was years ago! Going through the TSA in Tallahassee was funny because they stopped her for the suspicious bags of powder.
“What is that?”
“My parents.”
When we got together she had never been to New York City. I took her there many times. I repaid her for the Martha’s Vineyard Carousel with the Bryant Park Carousel behind the New York Public Library. It is a really little one and it is cute. Many times we have been there and there have been Moms and kids trying to decide to take a ride. I go buy tickets (they are CHEAP), hand them to them and say “All Aboard!” So much fun to do! And here are links to four more New York City carousels as well!
