Phil’s Press is Updated

I quit the research team in the Everglades in January 1969. I told Aaron and Murph, the geologist and biologist who led our team, that we knew all we needed to save the Earth. What we needed was action. And Nixon was about to be inaugurated President, and even then, I was so blue I faded into the ultraviolet….

I spent the next two years of my life as a full-time environmental activist. I helped stop the Jetport in the Everglades. I discovered oil drilling in the Big Cypress and got the New York Times to expose it. We stopped it. I helped create Earth Day (not my idea; I was recruited to help make it happen). It was also very much the zeitgeist. So, my work ended up in the Miami Herald a lot. A LOT. Part of the motivation for creating this site is to save and archive my life for my children and grandchildren. And yes, for my ego!!

But when we update some of the appendices, such as Photos or Phil’s Press, those of you who have registered on the site do not get an email telling you that. So if we think something noteworthy has been added we’ll write a “heads up” post for you! Please go check out the changes:
